Hydrants get Color-Codes

When area fire hydrants get a fresh coat of paint this year, they’ll also have their caps color coded. The colors will alert fire personnel as to how many gallons of water can flow from the hydrant each minute (GPM). The coding is a suggestion from the Insurance Services Office, a rating organization that sets local fire insurance prices.

The City of Montgomery wishes to thank all of the parade participants and volunteers who made the annual Independence Day Parade such as success. Montgomery is truly someplace special when a steady downpour does not dampen the spirits, enthusiasm and patriotism of residents and visitors who came out to the parade. Rough estimates indicate that 2000 people lined the parade route even in inclement weather. The following award recipients were honored after the annual Montgomery Independence Parade for their enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. These winning parade entries received certificates and ribbons thanking them for their participation in the parade.

  • Monday, July 29 and Tuesday, July 30: Westbound I-275 to northbound I-71; double lane
  • Wednesday, July 31: Southbound I-71 to westbound I-275
  • Thursday, Aug. 1 northbound I-71 to eastbound I-275
  • Friday, Aug. 2: Westbound I-275 to southbound I-71
  • Saturday, Aug. 3: Southbound I-71 to eastbound I-275

Montgomery Food Share will hold their second pick-up date on Saturday, August 3, starting at 10:00 a.m. This program collects donors who commit to donating a reusable-bag full of non-perishable food the first Saturday of even-numbered months. These food items are picked up by volunteers and delivered to Freestore Foodbank.
