At the September Financial Planning Committee meeting of Council Ms. Christa Criddle of the State Auditor’s Office presented the City of Montgomery with the “Auditor of State Award with Distinction” award for the fiscal year 2012 audit.

Pumpkin Walk October 26 Pioneer Park
Saturday, October 26, 3-5pm, Pioneer Park, Free, no registration required, geared for kids 10 and under. Join us for a family friendly Pumpkin Walk. Fire Department Offers Free Life-Saving Classes
The Montgomery Fire Department offers a quarterly four-hour Saturday class on CPR and First Aid, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The next class is scheduled November 9, with CPR training offered in the morning and First Aid training taught in the afternoon. Participants can attend just one session or stay for both.

Tree Mapping Project underway to Identify Trees in City Parks
Montgomery’s Parks are one of the City’s best assets. One reason the parks are so enjoyable is due to the Parks and Recreation Commission members. Over the past several months, the Commission has been working on a tree mapping project. The end result will be a map that identifies trees in the parks by type or species.
