Montgomery loses a great worker and a true friend to all

On Friday, January 24, Mike Brown, a service worker in the City of Montgomery’s public works department, lost his life in a tragic auto accident while driving to work. Mike worked for the City since 2011 and was a dedicated employee, possessed a “can do” attitude and greeted all of our customers with a smile. He will be dearly missed by his co-workers and the community. Mike leaves behind his wife and three children. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are extended to his family at this time of great loss.

While Friday January 24 began like any other here in Montgomery, it soon turned into a tragic day for our Montgomery family. Mike Brown, one of our very hard working Public Works team, died in an early morning auto accident in Stonelick Twp. Mike was heading into work when it happened and it shows us all how very precious life is and how everything can change in an instant.

Montgomery Police Officer Promoted to Lieutenant

John Crowell has served with the Montgomery Police Department for 17 years in various capacities, including time as a patrol sergeant, firearms instructor, patrol officer and as a member of the Hamilton County Police Association Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team. In January, Crowell was promoted to the position of lieutenant after the retirement of former Lt. Jerry Beitman.

City Arborist to Host Free Arbor Day Walk

The City of Montgomery will commemorate Arbor Day with an informative commentary and walk through Pioneer and Dulle Parks, hosted by City Arborist, Terry Willenbrink. The free event is planned for Friday, April 25. Participants will begin the walk and talk at 10:00 a. m. at the Pioneer Park parking lot, 10513 Deerfield Road. From there the class will make its way through the parks, discussing various topics about trees and shrubs.
